The Timber Crown

The Timber Crown is built from a single slab of reclaimed old-growth redwood, its live edges, knots, and uninterrupted grain left intact as evidence of long formation.

The slab comes from a reclaimed redwood estimated at approximately 1,500 years old, sourced from nineteenth-century logging remnants instead of newly harvested growth. Its age reveals saturated color, layered figure, and the unmistakable physical authority of the material.

Working at this scale calls for a controlled, incremental process. Redwood’s soft fibers and variable grain require sequenced milling and extended rest periods, allowing the slab to acclimate before final shaping. Proportion and layout emerge through close attention, with the material directing the outcome rather than a fixed template.

A bold structural base lifts and stabilizes the slab while preserving legroom and visual openness below. Hardware is recessed to maintain uninterrupted lines, and the table is engineered to disassemble for transport or restricted access while remaining rigid and composed once assembled. The surface is protected with a layered finish system that supports warmth and depth while accommodating careful daily use.

Though their base architectures differ, The Timber Crown and The Redwood Legacy were cut from the same monumental log. When viewed together, subtle book-matching discloses their shared source—two distinct constructions derived from a single mass.
