Parlor Bench

This parlor bench is built from redwood, chosen for its dense figure and natural variation. The surface reveals complex grain and shifting tone, shaped by slow growth and irregular formation rather than applied pattern.

The bench is assembled using exposed sliding dovetail joinery and a stretcher secured by a hand-driven wedge, providing both structural integrity and an aestetically pleasing design. All edges are softened by hand. Despite the richness of the material, the overall form remains controlled and understated.

Its proportions make this bench well suited for an entry, bedroom, or small sitting area. Hardwax oil finish protects the surface while maintaining the natural feel of the wood.
